About The Position

Babson Summer Study is an accredited, 3-week experiential online program for rising high school juniors and seniors to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and become innovators and changemakers. Running from July 8 to July 28, 2026, this program strengthens students’ understanding of the United Nations’ Global Goals while helping them build the competencies and confidence to address problems, seize opportunities, and create change that leads to their desired future. The Academic Mentor will work closely with their assigned faculty lead throughout the course to facilitate a productive Summer Study experience for students. Academic Mentors are expected to develop a strong working relationship with their faculty lead and serve as a visible, positive influence for all students in their section. Each section consists of approximately 30 high school students. Location: on the campus of NEIA: New England Innovation Academy in Marlborough, MA

Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel to and from the onsite program (Located on the campus of NEIA: New England Innovation Academy in Marlborough, MA) on Monday-Friday for the duration of the Summer Study Program.
  • Must demonstrate energy and commitment to entrepreneurial leadership.
  • Strong academic record demonstrated through your coursework at Babson.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with strong desire to empower youth.
  • Written fluency in a second language is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize work.
  • Resourceful, creative, and capable of handling multiple projects at one time and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to commit to up to 10 training hours prior to the program launch
  • Must be willing to learn skills CAD software and/or machinery in the Weissman Foundry.
  • Must be able to commit to program hours PLUS up to 2 additional hours each day working with your assigned teams (from July 8 to 28)
  • July 8 to July 28th, 2026 (8 AM – 11:00 AM ET) on Weekdays
  • In-Person Mentors must be physically residing in the U.S. in the state of Massachusetts during the period that Summer Study is being held, July 8 – 28, 2026.
  • The program runs from Monday through Friday for the in-person format held at New England Innovation Academy (NEIA) in Marlborough, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Attend weekday classes (Monday through Friday during program hours). Online sessions take place from 8:00 am – 11:00 am.
  • Mentors must be located in the Boston area during the program to support their faculty lead and students in-person from Monday through Friday.
  • Mentors must be on the NEIA campus in Marlborough MA for class sessions no later than 30 minutes before the start of class.
  • Take class attendance daily.
  • Review student projects including online assignments, discussion boards, and other documents to ensure they are properly completed.
  • Communicate and work with an assigned group of about 10 Summer Study students.
  • Communicate and work closely with your faculty lead and manager regarding absences, student attendance, etc.
  • Following faculty guidelines for homework grading and communicating with students.
  • Be available to meet with students outside of the 3-hour class (Anticipate 2-5 additional hours each day working with your two assigned teams of 10 students and coordinating meetings with other teams in your group).
  • Provide supervision and support to in-person Summer Study students during their use of Foundry machinery, ensuring safety and proper operation.
