About The Position

Swan Valley Co-op is hiring a Summer Student: Yard Labourer at our Home and Building location in Swan River, MB. The Summer Student: Yard reports to the Yard Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining the Home Centre yard, grounds and equipment in a neat and orderly manner ensuring it’s safe for all team members and customers. The Summer Student: Yard will perform duties in accordance with the mission statement and policies/procedures of the Swan Valley Co-op Ltd. Our team provides a range of products and services to support our member-owners. Through the work that we do, we help to build, fuel, feed and grow Western Canadian communities together.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including scheduled shifts weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays.

Responsibilities

Removing debris and other waste materials from the Home Centre property
Basic grounds care, including mowing grass
Organizing and sorting materials on the Home Centre property to improve appearance and safety
Assist in the proper care and maintenance of all department equipment and maintain cleanliness and order of merchandise in the yard.
Practice and maintain safe procedures for the handling and stocking of merchandise.
Observe safety measures and report hazardous conditions immediately to the Yard Supervisor.
Follow safe front-line loss prevention practices and maintain a constant alert against unauthorized removal of merchandise.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
To be a liaison and public relations representative for the Co-op within the communities we serve.
