Summer Student - Special Events Planner
About The Position
The Multicultural Agency of the Greater Moncton Area (MAGMA) is the southeastern New Brunswick's largest Settlement Agency. They support immigrants as they arrive, plant roots, and build a new home in New Brunswick's largest and fastest-growing city. MAGMA is an organization continuously evolving, striving to be a progressive community partner within the Greater Moncton area and offering best-in-class settlement services. MAGMA is seeking a Special Events Planner to support its Summer 2026 events calendar, which includes multicultural celebrations, newcomer integration activities, and DEI-focused initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in event planning and delivery while directly supporting inclusive community-building initiatives. The Special Events Planner will assist with administrative tasks, event logistics, and on-site coordination to ensure MAGMA’s events are welcoming, well organized, and impactful.
Requirements
- Fluent in English.
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Must be a Canadian Citizen, PR or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and legally entitled to work.
- Must not be an international student on a study permit or the holder of a work permit.
- Have a clean Criminal Record Check
- You will be required to present your social insurance number (SIN) upon hire.

Responsibilities
- Assist with event planning, including outlining goals, timelines, and logistics
- Support venue setup and coordination of equipment, materials, and supplies
- Organize event resources, and on‑site materials
- Provide on‑site support during event setup, delivery, and teardown
- Serve as a point of contact for volunteers, vendors, performers, and participants
- Support volunteer coordination and help foster a welcoming, inclusive environment
- Assist with the planning and delivery of newcomer, cultural, and community events
