About The Position

The Multicultural Agency of the Greater Moncton Area (MAGMA) is the southeastern New Brunswick's largest Settlement Agency. They support immigrants as they arrive, plant roots, and build a new home in New Brunswick's largest and fastest-growing city. MAGMA is an organization continuously evolving, striving to be a progressive community partner within the Greater Moncton area and offering best-in-class settlement services. MAGMA is seeking a Special Events Planner to support its Summer 2026 events calendar, which includes multicultural celebrations, newcomer integration activities, and DEI-focused initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in event planning and delivery while directly supporting inclusive community-building initiatives. The Special Events Planner will assist with administrative tasks, event logistics, and on-site coordination to ensure MAGMA’s events are welcoming, well organized, and impactful.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, PR or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and legally entitled to work.
  • Must not be an international student on a study permit or the holder of a work permit.
  • Have a clean Criminal Record Check
  • You will be required to present your social insurance number (SIN) upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with event planning, including outlining goals, timelines, and logistics
  • Support venue setup and coordination of equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Organize event resources, and on‑site materials
  • Provide on‑site support during event setup, delivery, and teardown
  • Serve as a point of contact for volunteers, vendors, performers, and participants
  • Support volunteer coordination and help foster a welcoming, inclusive environment
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of newcomer, cultural, and community events
