Goodwin is an international AmLaw 100 law firm seeking a Summer Intern to gain exposure to its Private Equity team and Legal Recruiting team in New York. This role is designed as a shadowing and learning opportunity for individuals interested in legal practice and talent operations. The Summer Intern will observe day-to-day activities, gain insight into litigation processes, and learn about legal recruiting and professional development functions.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in the legal field and/or legal talent and recruiting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to ask questions and learn.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Motivated self-starter who demonstrates curiosity and initiative.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Comfortable using internet-based applications and learning new tools.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow attorneys and business team members to gain exposure to legal matters and legal talent processes.
  • Observe and learn about document management, review, and production workflows.
  • Attend meetings, hearings, or internal discussions (as appropriate) to understand case strategy and team collaboration.
  • Gain familiarity with trial preparation processes, including exhibit organization and case materials.
  • Observe legal research methods and the use of our databases and tools.
  • Participate in learning sessions, trainings, and mentorship opportunities.
