About The Position

Summer School position for program serving identified/recommended incoming Kindergarten students. The position is a 1.0 FTE Teacher role within the Kindergarten Prep Program for the 2026 Summer School Program. Availability of the position is dependent on various factors, including student enrollment. The program runs from July 13 to August 13, Monday through Thursday, with student hours from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Preference will be given to teachers currently teaching UPK or Kindergarten.

Requirements

• Required NYS Certification: Elementary B-2
• Experience working with kindergarten and/or early childhood children in the area of literacy and mathematics
• Experience teaching phonemic awareness and concepts of print
• Experience administering and interpreting literacy and math assessments
• Experience using research-based early literacy and numeracy “best practices”
• Experience with delivering math instruction aligned with the District’s philosophy and framework
• Familiarity with the NYS Learning Standards
• Experience incorporating literacy centers
• Experience in a co-teaching model
• Experience using data to drive instruction
• Ability to design a child-centered, early literacy program that utilizes balanced literacy principles
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated success with parental involvement
• Must be available to work for the entire Summer School schedule without exception
