The Integrated Missile Defense Technology Group analyzes emerging missile, air, and drone threats and develops technologies and systems to defend the United States, its military personnel, and its allies. The group supports the U.S. Armed Services and the Missile Defense Agency in developing, testing, and improving defense systems, from identifying critical needs through prototyping, testing, and transition to operational capabilities. The group seeks graduate-level summer interns to contribute to mission-related technical projects. Interns will work with technical staff on projects that draw on their competencies; work may be individual or team-based depending on candidate skills. Candidates must be pursuing a master's or Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a similar STEM field. The Summer Research Program provides hands-on research, dedicated mentorship, and professional development through workshops, technical talks, and networking events. Internships are typically 10–12 weeks, with flexible start and end dates, usually from May through early August. Eligible non-local interns may receive housing support, including access to discounted university housing in Boston and a one-time taxable relocation payment. Complimentary daily shuttle service is provided between Boston-based housing and the Lab. Selected candidates are subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level DoD security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
