About The Position
Academy Summer is seeking a teacher for a one-week upper school writing course as part of the inaugural year of their new Writers Academy. This course, 'Writing Skills Intensive,' is for grades 9-12 and runs from July 27-31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with scheduled breaks. The course aims to help students build strong academic reading, writing, and presentation skills by focusing on current, relevant issues and student choice. Students will read and analyze current events articles, lead discussions, research topics connected to real-world issues, write short research-based essays, and deliver interactive presentations. The Writers Academy offers immersive academic enrichment opportunities for students from Albany Academy and the wider Capital Region, designed for students who enjoy asking questions, sharing ideas, and exploring topics that matter to them.
Requirements
- Teaching experience at the high school level.
- Ability to select timely articles connected to local, national, and international events.
- Skill in facilitating student-led discussions.
- Ability to guide students in research and writing.
- Experience in developing and delivering interactive presentations.

Responsibilities
