About The Position

Berklee's Office of Summer Programs will be offering 15+ short-term programs this year in the areas of music, theater, and dance and will be welcoming 1,500+ students to campus over the course of June, July, and August. Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the Student Support Assistant provides customer service and administrative support for Summer Programs check-in events.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Must be a morning person with a friendly and upbeat attitude.
  • Experience working with customer service, especially face-to-face.
  • Punctual and reliable. Lateness will not be tolerated.
  • Familiarity with Berklee campus and key buildings and offices.
  • Must be available for the following dates, with flexibility for taking on additional weekday and weekend shifts as needed: Mandatory Training: 6/12 Program Check-ins: 6/12, 6/14, 6/19, 6/21, 6/22, 6/27, 7/5, 7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10

Responsibilities

  • Provide exemplary customer service during check-in events by greeting participants and families, answering questions, and directing traffic
  • Set up check-in tables and materials (requires some heavy lifting)
  • Assist with program breakfast set-up on select weekends
  • Be well-versed in campus health and safety protocols and advise students as needed
  • Run errands on-campus as needed
  • Provide on-the-ground support for program directors as needed
  • Conduct pre-program phone outreach to registered students on missing items to facilitate a smooth check-in process
  • May include general office support, including mailing and data entry projects
