About The Position

The Upward Bound Project EDGE (Exploration and Determination Guarantees Excellence) program is seeking a Math Instructor at the high school level to work with Project EDGE (Edgewater High School) scholars for the six (6) week summer program (June to July). The goal is to promote the total growth of the students as a primary objective. This is a unique job opportunity for people who enjoy working with students and who have experience in teaching Math. The instructor will work up to 24 hours a week at $30.00 per hour, Monday through Thursday with occasional Fridays for trips. The position is a temporary, fixed-term appointment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s + 1 yr. experience working with high school students, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Must be available to chaperone at least one trip.
  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H‑1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches Math instruction to high school students.
  • Provides classroom supervision during instruction time.
  • Helps co-teacher during their instruction time.
  • Monitors and keeps daily log of student attendance, behavior, and academic development.
  • Implements engaging and hands-on lessons to facilitate teaching and learning.
  • Provides feedback to students on assignments.
  • Assist in supervision at program events, activities and lunch.
  • Must be available to chaperone at least 1 trip.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
