About The Position

Step into the field with YVEA's line crew as a Summer Laborer, where no two days look the same. You'll be hands-on from the start - prepping and handing up specialized equipment, assembling line apparatus, and keeping job sites running smoothly and safely. Expect real physical work: digging, hauling materials, stocking trucks, and operating YVEA vehicles. This position follows a four-day workweek, with shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, giving you long weekends while gaining valuable experience in the electric utility industry. Requirements

  • Ability to work independently when assigned tasks requiring little or no supervision.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Willingness to work with and for a variety of supervisors or coworkers.
  • Satisfactory work record and a valid Colorado driver's license.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to properly and safely use basic tools, both manual and power driven.
  • Ability to interact with customers and other employees in a courteous and proper manner.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Experience using power and hand tools.
  • Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lineman is the various aspects of line maintenance, repair and construction.
  • Hand lineman necessary protective equipment needed for work being done e.g. (hot sticks, rubber goods, blankets, gloves, etc.).
  • Prepare and assemble various line apparatus required for the particular work being performed.
  • Drive and operate various YVEA vehicles.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized. Pick up scrap wire, boxes, tree trimmings, and other discarded materials.
  • Work regularly consists of digging holes, loading and unloading trucks and/or trailers.
  • Stock trucks with material commonly used on a daily basis.
  • Assist with washing and maintaining equipment in proper working order.
  • Assist with cleaning protective equipment (hot sticks and rubber goods).
  • Use of various hand and power tools.
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Foreman.
