About The Position

The Intern is a role that advances DC Charter School Alliance’s mission through a variety of projects aligned with the candidate’s experience and interest, as well as the organization’s needs. The Job duties and responsibilities outlined below provide an overview of the projects the Intern should expect.

Requirements

  • A passion for educational equity, access, and opportunities for families combined with a deep respect for charter schools and the diversity and history of the charter movement in DC.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite or G Suite.
  • Impeccable time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Working towards bachelors degree, or recently graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Familiarity with the DC area.

Nice To Haves

  • Some prior industry experience is preferred. This includes but is not limited to education, community development, policy, advocacy, social Justice, or non-profits

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute advocacy and communications projects, which could include, but are not limited to: Developing a turn-key “About DC Charter School Alliance deck” to be used publicly
  • Supporting preparation for Gala by engaging with alumni and schools for programming content
  • Assisting the DC Alliance Advocacy team with in-person meetings with Councilmembers and their staff
  • Aggregating and organizing an advocacy partner listserv
  • Provide event support for regular staff-run events, including the Attendance Summit and Rainbow Graduation
  • Aggregate school calendar spreadsheet for school-year 2025-26
  • AdHoc research projects for advocacy or school support teams and the Executive Director. This could include researching national statistics or policies, or researching content for the DC Alliance’s next Policy Brief.
  • Other Projects as Assigned

Benefits

  • The salary for a fully qualified candidate is $21 per hour.
