2027 Summer Intern, MS/PhD, Semantics
About The Position
Waymo is hiring a 2027 summer intern to work on machine learning for autonomous driving. The internship is based on-site at Waymo’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. Interns work with industry leaders on impactful projects, apply their knowledge, develop their skills, and collaborate in a team environment. The intern will design and implement state-of-the-art multimodal perception models involving camera, radar, lidar, and audio, as well as multitask perception models. Potential project areas include 3D object detection and tracking, open-vocabulary detection using world-knowledge models, 3D occupancy detection, semantic segmentation, large-scale foundation models, and pretraining and self-supervised learning through forecasting. The intern will train and evaluate machine-learning models using Waymo driving-log data and gain experience with large-scale machine-learning infrastructure.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in a master’s or PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, or a similar technical field, or be enrolled in a master’s program with a strong publication record.
- Experience with Python.
- Experience building machine-learning models with JAX, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
Nice To Haves
- A strong track record of high-quality machine-learning or computer-vision research, including publications at top-tier conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, ICML, ICRA, IROS, RSS, NeurIPS, or AAAI, or in IJCV or PAMI.
- Experience in object detection, segmentation, multiple-object tracking, audio perception, or occupancy detection.
