About The Position

The MISO 2027 Summer Internship Program is seeking motivated students pursuing degrees in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, English, or related fields. This internship offers a career-igniting summer experience where interns can make a real impact by driving innovations that boost system reliability, resilience, and performance, and tackling complex technical challenges in the energy industry. Interns will support virtual customers, work with internal subject matter experts, analyze data to improve processes, and participate in networking and development activities. The program concludes with a final presentation summarizing project work and impact. MISO manages the electricity superhighway in the Central U.S., ensuring reliable power to 45 million Americans through groundbreaking research and advanced technology.

Requirements

Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, English, or a related field (undergraduate or graduate).
Enjoy building relationships, communicating clearly, and helping customers solve problems.
Curious learners who ask great questions and enjoy finding better ways to work.
Bring experience or interest in communication, data analysis, customer service, teamwork, or process improvement.
Comfortable using or learning tools like Dynamics, Power BI, Excel, and other business systems.
Available to start Wednesday, June 2nd, 2027 and continue through Friday, August 13th, 2027.
No VISA sponsorship opportunities, including OPT/CPT.

Responsibilities

Support a group of virtual customers by helping answer questions, strengthen relationships, and improve their experience with MISO.
Work with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) across the company to understand customer needs, assist with problem‑solving, and keep inquiries moving toward resolution.
Help the team make better use of data by reviewing metrics, asking thoughtful questions, and identifying opportunities to simplify or improve everyday processes.
Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to help you grow your confidence, build relationships, and understand MISO’s broader mission.
Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing your project work, recommendations, and areas of impact.
