About The Position

Interns work with experts in their fields, gain valuable job experience, and engage in meaningful work. Registration is responsible for record keeping for all art and artifacts in the Barnes collection and those on loan to the Foundation and Calder Gardens for exhibitions. This includes facilitating and tracking the movement of objects, loan correspondence, agreements, insurance, exhibition planning, maintaining and updating digital and paper files. The Registrars work closely with the Curatorial and Conservation teams to maintain best practices for the care of the collection and loan objects. Preference for the internship is given to graduate students.

Requirements

  • Eligible interns are either an undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate; preference is given to graduate students.
  • Criminal Background-National
  • Ability to occasionally transport up to 25 lbs. of files, equipment or supplies.
  • Ability to move to access files, equipment or supplies.
  • This position requires extended time on the computer.
  • Clearly communicate in person, by phone, and by video conference.
  • Communicate with others in conversational and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Help inventory collection items in all Barnes locations.
  • Help manage records for collection and loan objects.
  • Enter data into the collections management database.
  • Assist with creating exhibition-related documentation.
  • Attend exhibition meetings or observe in-gallery work.
