About The Position

Housing and Food Services (HFS) is seeking Summer Housekeepers to provide room service for overnight guest accommodations in residence halls and to set up meeting and dining facilities for conference guests. HFS supports over 10,000 student residents and operates more than 40 dining locations on campus, with a team of over 1,200 staff and students dedicated to enhancing student life through teamwork and excellent service.

Requirements

  • Must be capable of doing physically demanding work that requires repetitive bending and lifting.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team with all conference, desk, and custodial staff.
  • Willingness to work in a variety of locations throughout the summer.
  • Must be willing to request days off around conference activity and resulting work schedules.
  • Traditional holidays (i.e., Juneteenth, July 4th, and Labor Day) are considered regular workdays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide room service for overnight guest room accommodation in the residence halls.
  • Set up all meeting and dining room facilities for conference guests.
  • Set and service conference guest rooms and bathrooms including properly handling linens and towels.
  • Set up and clean meeting and dining rooms as directed.
  • Clean guest and resident rooms, restrooms, hallways, staircases, entryways, lobbies, lounges, study rooms, kitchens, and other shared areas as directed.
  • Perform cleaning tasks such as dusting, sanitizing, glass cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, washing walls, and other cleaning tasks as directed.
  • Clean floors, walls, mirrors, countertops, sinks, toilets, and showers in private and shared bathrooms.
  • Remove trash, recycling, and compost, including operating trash, recycling, and compost compactors.
  • Carry, safeguard, and use assigned key rings, keys, or access cards appropriately.
  • Complete all work assignments in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance, including wearing appropriate uniform attire, footwear, and identification.
  • Set up and maintain housekeeping carts; properly mix chemicals as needed.
  • Provide support to campus partners such as Desk Services, Conference Services, Dining, and UW Facilities staff and other areas of Housing and Food Services as needed.
  • Perform other projects as assigned.
