About The Position

This role is responsible for managing the health and safety of campers and staff at Camp Arnold. The Summer Health Care Manager will oversee the health center, administer medications and treatments, conduct health screenings, and provide first-aid training to counselors. This position also involves ensuring a safe and clean environment, maintaining records, and contributing to the overall camp program and mission.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as an RN or LPN in the state of Washington.
  • Current certification in First-Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
  • Ability to understand written information.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
  • Assist with "break day" duties as scheduled.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
  • Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
  • Complete a mid-summer and an end-of-summer brief.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
  • Discuss health and safety procedures, precautions, and routines with staff during pre-camp training.
  • Report all admissions to the Health Center to the Program Director.
  • Establish a special time of day for "sick-call" in consultation with the Camp Administrator, following meals.
  • Guide counselors in regard to their responsibilities in noting and reporting illness, injury, or unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Report campers' dietary habits and symptoms of disturbance to counselors.
  • Check living quarters and camp for health and safety conditions daily.
  • Administer all medications and treatments according to physicians' orders and keep all records.
  • Prepare first-aid kits for emergency use and instruct counselors in current first-aid methods.
  • Make a physical check of campers on their arrival and review health records.
  • Be responsible for any drugs, medications, and first aid kits brought to camp by campers or staff.
  • Maintain daily treatment "log" and insurance forms.
  • Prepare a written report including equipment inventory, requisitions, treatment records, infirmary and hospital admissions, doctor visits, recommendations, and insurance records.
