About The Position

The Summer Facilities Support Worker will assist with a variety of tasks to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of the property. This temporary position combines duties in maintenance, groundskeeping, custodial services, compost management, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, reliable, and willing to take on a wide range of tasks while working under the guidance of the Facilities Manager or designated supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (current students or recent graduates encouraged to apply).
  • Some experience or interest in maintenance, groundskeeping, custodial services, or office administration preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, maintenance, and groundskeeping tasks is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items as required for maintenance and grounds tasks.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable for certain tasks).
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems.
  • May be required to travel to local on and off campus locations.
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop.
  • Regularly lift up-to 50+ or fewer pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine air filter changes for HVAC systems.
  • Assist with light carpentry, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
  • Help with basic plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks and unclogging drains.
  • Assist in tracking and managing the inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Support in preventive maintenance tasks, including inspecting equipment and systems.
  • Manage composting operations by collecting organic waste and maintaining compost bins.
  • Help with the collection, sorting, and disposal of waste materials.
  • Assist in maintaining recycling stations and promoting recycling outreach.
  • Assist with maintaining sports fields, including mowing, seeding, and irrigation.
  • Assist with street and grounds cleaning, including litter removal and weeding.
  • Perform basic landscaping tasks such as planting, mulching, and trimming.
  • Clean and sanitize indoor spaces, including restrooms, hallways, and offices.
  • Empty trash bins and replace liners throughout the facility.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors as necessary.
  • Monitor and restock custodial supplies.
  • Assist with general office duties, including answering phones and managing emails.
  • Help organize and maintain filing systems, work orders, and other documents.
  • Assist with scheduling routine maintenance and coordinating tasks.
  • Assist with tracking maintenance activities and operational logs.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down events or meetings.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Be available to assist with emergency repairs or cleaning tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies.
