About The Position

This position is for a Summer Enrichment Program Manager who enjoys working with children, making an impact in the local area, bringing resources to underserved communities, building capable teams, and having fun during the summer. The role involves managing a robust summer experience for marginalized youth, leading orientation sessions, navigating logistics of daily adventures, and ensuring children have access to a fun-filled summer. The Summer Enrichment Program Manager is part of DREAM's program staff, supporting site-based summer programs with the goal of providing free, engaging summer activities for youth in partner communities. The role requires working closely with a team of summer AmeriCorps members, using empowerment and collaborative supervision strategies to deliver the program and reduce the opportunity gap. Requirements

  • Current driver’s license, proof of insurance, and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to be trained to drive a program van or utilize a personal vehicle to transport youth.
  • At least 1 year of experience supervising or managing a team, with a solutions-oriented and forward thinking approach.
  • Demonstrated practice or education serving diverse communities or populations of people of color in an equitable manner and a manner that is respectful and aware of the community's experience.
  • Exceptional communication, team building, and facilitation skills with a focus on direct communication.
  • Computer proficiency: comfort with Google's GSuite and email communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and set priorities while giving consideration to staff, the organization, and the self.
  • Creativity, energy, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • A contagious energy for DREAM’s work and providing access to youth.
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor environment in all seasons.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee the team of SummerCorps in their weekly activities at multiple community sites.
  • Conduct weekly planning meetings, 1:1 support meetings, and budget oversight and management for the SummerCorps team.
  • Provide daily on-site supervision of activities and cultivate a sense of team and belonging among AmeriCorps members.
  • Work with each site-based team daily to encourage creativity and quality program planning related to budgets and weekly activities.
  • Oversee AmeriCorps compliance, including members meeting total hours, completing timesheets, and meeting program responsibilities.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with participant enrollment, risk management, and incident/concern reporting.
  • Attend and help lead SummerCorps orientation.
  • Coordinate and establish access to lunch for participating youth by working with housing and community partners.
  • Be present in neighborhoods daily to supervise and help run activities, and oversee logistics of daily activities and adventures.
  • Regularly communicate virtually and in-person with stakeholders including AmeriCorps members, families, community partners, and regional leaders.
  • Be supervised and supported by the region’s Youth Service Managers, meeting regularly with them and other Summer Program Managers.
  • Split time appropriately between on-site, supervisory, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Dedicate Mondays to program planning and supply acquisition, and Tuesdays-Fridays to full days of summer activities.
