About The Position

The DREAM Program is seeking creative, youth-centered, and team-oriented individuals for the role of Summer Enrichment Coordinator. This position is a rewarding summer job focused on closing the opportunity gap for at-promise children and teens through community collaboration and mentoring. Summer Enrichment Coordinators will create and implement free local summer activities for youth in partner communities. DREAM aims to empower youth by filling the gap in developmental resources and providing equitable support. The role requires an understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as an AmeriCorps member.
  • Must be 17 years or older.
  • Must be a US Citizen, US National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien.
  • Excitement and passion for youth work.
  • Commitment to the entire service term (Monday June 8th - Monday August 17th, 2026).
  • Commitment to serve as a positive role model for youth.
  • Ability to participate in occasional meetings or service activities remotely.
  • Ability to regularly meet in person with your team or service assignment in their assigned location.
  • Responsibility for transportation to and from service locations.
  • Access to a reliable phone.
  • Commitment to the mission of AmeriCorps and DREAM.
  • Desire to enhance existing skills and develop new skills necessary for service.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous youth work experience or motivations for a career in youth services.
  • Elevated awareness of issues of social equity and social justice with a commitment to continued learning.
  • Creativity, high energy, and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Current driver’s license, proof of insurance, and clean driving record.
  • Access to a car and willingness to drive youth in your personal vehicle.
  • First aid and CPR certification by the time summer sessions begin.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement eight weeks of summer daytime activities for youth in low-income housing, using the summer learning objectives.
  • Conduct activities on-site, off-site (parks, libraries), and plan field trips.
  • Plan activities based on four objectives: Healthy Minds/Healthy Bodies, Problem Solvers, Artists and Creators, and Motivated Readers.
  • Get to know individual youth and incorporate their interests into daily activities.
  • Plan and lead field trips out of the community at least once weekly.
  • Communicate regularly with co-service members, supervisors, caregivers, and community members.
  • Engage with organizations that provide lunch and other resources.
  • Provide a physically, emotionally, and mentally safe and inclusive environment for youth and the team.
  • Emphasize youth interests, play, social-emotional learning, and summertime joy in activities.
  • Incorporate personal passions and skills into offered activities.
  • Engage with and support survey staff for annual internal evaluations.
