About The Position

Katzie First Nation is excited to offer summer employment opportunities for Katzie youth through the Katzie Kids Summer Activity Program. Spend your summer staying active, building friendships, and making a positive impact in your community! In this role, you will be part of a fun and supportive team helping to lead games, sports, creative activities, and daily programs for younger children. If you enjoy working with kids, being active, and bringing energy and creativity to group activities, this is the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience while having a fun and rewarding summer.

Requirements

  • Interest and/or experience working with children and/or youth in a social, recreational program setting and managing behaviours.
  • Excellent oral, written, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be at least 15 years old.
  • Have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  • Be returning to high school in September 2026.
  • Be able to work independently and in a team.
  • Be able to pass a Criminal Record Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in previous summer programs would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Support and deliver summer-related group activities with guidance from the Katzie Youth Team.
  • Create and maintain a positive atmosphere to build self-esteem and confidence in children.
  • Help maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including daily clean up from activities and mealtimes.
  • Attend in-house training (if required).
  • Help support any additional tasks, as directed by the Katzie Youth team or Katzie HSS staff.
  • Ensure that the youth center and gym are always clean and tidy, leading the set-up and tear-down of the program at the beginning and end of the program session.
  • Ensure that children's physical, emotional, social, safety, well-being, first-aid, and nutritional needs are met.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with children, parents, staff, volunteers, and community members.
