About The Position

This is a Summer EMERGE Intern position within the Institute of Utility Security and Resilience (IUSR)-OPS. The internship will take place over the Summer 2026 term, specifically during June and July 2026. The interns will participate in the EMERGE workforce development program led by Dr. Fletcher and Dr. Raj. Mondays will be dedicated to training on EMERGE course modules. Tuesdays and Wednesdays will involve supervised internship work at the JEA lab, focusing on understanding, designing, and demonstrating a working microgrid. The workload will be distributed among 7 high school interns using a team structure, where each intern has a specialized primary role but all are involved in core lab testing, lectures, and the final capstone build.

Requirements

  • High school students.
  • Participation in the EMERGE workforce development program.
  • Availability for the Summer 2026 term (June and July 2026).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training on EMERGE course modules.
