Summer Day Camp Counselor
About The Position
The Clarksville YMCA is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join as Summer Day Camp Counselors. This seasonal role involves leading campers through fun and engaging activities, ensuring their safety, happiness, and growth. Responsibilities include supervising activities like swimming and games, and creating memorable experiences for children. The position requires a commitment to the full summer season, typically from mid-May through early August, with a Monday-Friday schedule. Shifts will be scheduled within the operating hours of the day camp centers, which range from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with counselors working no more than 8.5 hours per day, up to five days a week.
Requirements
- Minimum Age: 18
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- CPR Pro, First Aid, and AED certification (within 30 days of hire).
- Must be able to commit to the full season (mid-May through early August).
- Must have consistent availability Monday-Friday.
- Must be able to work shifts scheduled within the window of 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., working no more than 8.5 hours per day.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience or coursework in childcare or recreation is a plus.
- Enthusiasm, energy, and a love for working with kids.
