About The Position

KE Camps is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Summer Day Camp Counselor-Interns. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in a traditional-style day camp setting, partnering with private clubs nationwide to provide memorable experiences for elementary-aged children. As a Camp Counselor, you will be an active participant in all camp activities, assisting the Camp Director with daily tasks to ensure a fun, safe, and engaging environment for campers. This position can also serve as a competitively paid internship, potentially meeting course credit needs. Interns are expected to fulfill all regular job responsibilities while managing their internship requirements independently, ensuring they do not interfere with work obligations. The Camp Director will serve as the field supervisor for internship coursework, with support from a KE Camps contact at HQ.

Requirements

  • Ability to help children grow in character, experiences, and insights.
  • Ability to guard the health and well-being of campers at all times.
  • Capable of sustaining energy for participation in a full day's worth of activities.
  • Prior experience working with children.
  • Enthusiastic, Responsible, Dependable, Consistent, Level-Headed, Flexible, and Calm in all situations.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified OR willing to become certified before the summer begins.
  • Must be available to work the full camp season (June 15 through August 7).

Responsibilities

  • Work with a group of campers and provide a fun, safe, and exciting camp experience.
  • Cooperate with fellow Counselors and the Camp Director.
  • Greet families and campers upon arrival.
  • Support the Camp Director in establishing rules and emergency procedures with campers.
  • Participate in all camp activities.
  • Supervise daily swim time in a hands-on manner from within the water.
  • Help out where needed and lead activities when asked by the Camp Director.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Fulfill regular daily job responsibilities as a Camp Counselor.
  • Complete internship responsibilities and ensure they do not interfere with work obligations.
