About The Position

This is moderately heavy manual work which involves seasonal or temporary, routine housekeeping and domestic tasks of various buildings. Position reports to assigned supervisor. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday. late afternoon to evening availability needed. Assignment: This is a 20-hour per week position.

Requirements

  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 6 months; training provided
  • Experience in custodial work preferred; must be at least 18 years old
  • Some knowledge of the materials, chemicals, methods, and equipment typically used in janitorial work
  • Ability to learn the duties of a custodian
  • Ability to understand and follow simple instructions
  • Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment
  • Ability to perform heavy manual routine custodial tasks
  • Ability to understand what others are saying in normal conversation in person and on the telephone, and ability to detect specific noises and proper equipment operation.
  • Ability to communicate orally with others in person and on the telephone, and to be able to acknowledge instructions.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle and equipment.
  • Some positions may require some driving of personal vehicle, city van or truck. Possession of a valid Florida License Class "E" Driver's License required for these positions.
  • The work requires the ability to operate the following: telephones, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and/or laptop computers, calculators, and all associated software.

  • EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
