About The Position

Westchester Day School, established in 1948, is a Modern Orthodox, co-educational, dual curriculum Jewish elementary school serving students from 2-year-olds through 8th grade. The school aims to prepare students to live as mensches and lifelong learners, inspiring them to impact the world by cultivating a commitment to Torah, midot, community, and academic rigor.

This is a part-time, seasonal role with variable hours as needed to support our full-time maintenance staff. The hourly rate for this role is $17.00. The Summer Custodial/Cleaning Associate supports the daily upkeep and cleanliness of the facility during the busy summer season. This role is ideal for individuals who are reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable performing hands-on work to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.

Requirements

• Prior custodial experience required
• Ability to lift and move items up to 30–40 lbs
• Comfortable working on your feet and performing physical tasks.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Must be available to work throughout the summer season.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, common areas, and high-touch surfaces.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or reporting repair needs.
• Support event or program setup and breakdown as needed.
• Maintain outdoor areas (e.g., sweeping walkways, picking up debris) as assigned.
• Restock cleaning and restroom supplies.
• Follow all safety procedures and use cleaning equipment properly.
• Communicate any issues or concerns to the supervisor promptly.
