About The Position

St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church is seeking a reliable and hardworking Summer Custodial Assistant to support the cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of parish and school facilities during the summer months. This role helps ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for parish staff, ministries, and visitors.

Requirements

• High school student or graduate preferred
• Prior custodial, cleaning, or maintenance experience preferred but not required
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment
• Commitment to supporting a safe, clean, and welcoming parish environment
• Must meet all Archdiocesan requirements, including Safe Environment compliance (if applicable)
• All candidates receiving an employment offer must submit a pre-employment screening. The screening will include criminal background check, Family Care Safety Registration, drug screen, employment and educational licensure/certification verification, health screening, and any other screenings deemed necessary for employment. Any offer would be contingent upon successful completion of any required screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, meeting spaces, and common areas
• Assist with summer deep-cleaning projects throughout parish and school buildings
• Help set up and take down spaces for parish events and activities
• Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, including walkways and entrances
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks as directed by the maintenance team
• Monitor building conditions and report any maintenance or safety concerns
• Follow all cleaning protocols, safety guidelines, and parish procedures
• Support the maintenance and custodial team with additional duties as needed
