About The Position

Girl Scout Summer Camp Positions 2027 offer a variety of roles for individuals passionate about working with children in an outdoor environment. Positions range from leadership roles like Assistant Camp Director and Program Manager to specialized roles such as Food Service Manager/Cook, Health Manager/Nurse, CIT Leader, Unit Leaders, Aquatics Counselors/Lifeguards, Adventure Counselors, General Counselors, and Kitchen Assistants. Many positions provide housing, meals, and entertainment during overnight camp sessions. A bonus of $100 per week is offered for each week of overnight camp completed. Applicants must be able to work both overnight and day camp dates. Salaries listed are minimums and may increase with prior camp experience.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be able to work both overnight and day camp dates.
  • Assistant Camp Director: age 21+, Prior camp and supervisory experience is a must.
  • Program Manager: age 21+
  • Food Service Manager/Cook: age 21+, Food Handler certification required.
  • Health Manager/Nurse: age 21+
  • CIT Leader: age 18+ (21+ preferred), Patience and the ability to effectively lead and communicate with young adults is a must.
  • Unit Leaders: age 18+ (21+ preferred)
  • Aquatics Counselors/Lifeguards: age 18+, Must have current lifeguard certification or attend/pass free training offered by GSCCC prior to camp.
  • Adventure Counselors: age 18+, Compliance with safety standards and keeping campers safe is a priority so you must be able to be a rule enforcer.
  • General Counselors: age 18+, A love of the outdoors and a willingness to share that passion with campers.
  • Kitchen Assistants: age 18+, You will need to complete a Food Handlers certification for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • May be more with prior camp experience.
  • Food Manager certification preferred.
  • RN, LPN, EMT or Wilderness First Aid certification holders are preferred.
  • Previous camp experience is a plus but not required (General Counselors).
  • Previous experience instructing youth is a definite plus (Adventure Counselors).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading a high performing team to carry out the daily operations of camp.
  • Coordinate efficient check-in and check-out processes and manage camper paperwork including health records.
  • Respond to camper, staff, or parent needs.
  • Coordinate fun, themed, engaging camp activities that are administered in compliance with proper safety standards.
  • Maintain program schedules and inventory of camp supplies.
  • Supervise specialty counselors.
  • Oversee all food service operations including the planning, preparing and cooking of all meals.
  • Lead kitchen staff to ensure everything meets nutritional and health code standards.
  • Oversee the physical and mental wellness and safety of campers and staff.
  • Manage health center operations and maintain all medical records/documents.
  • Render first aid and dispensing medication to campers.
  • Lead a special unit of older campers participating in CIT (Counselor-in-training) I and CIT II.
  • Coordinate activities and teach skills to prepare leaders and the next generation of camp staff.
  • Develop daily schedules for campers and counselors.
  • Supervise a team of general counselors to lead campers through their daily schedule.
  • Coordinate and deliver pool and waterfront activities including swimming, boating, sailing, and canoeing.
  • Maintain camper compliance with all safety standards.
  • Help campers experience their adventurous side through challenging activities like climbing tower, rock climbing, and ropes courses (low & high).
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and keep campers safe.
  • Get to know campers by name and ensure each camper is provided with a safe and inclusive outdoor experience.
  • Assist with meal preparation and kitchen clean up.
  • Fill in for general counselors when needed.
