About The Position

The Camp Manager is responsible for the primary supervision of all seasonal camp staff and operations. The Camp Manager will be responsible for the daily oversight of the Junior Marine Biologist (JMB) Summer Camp Program, including maintaining safety and quality standards, coordinating on and off-site activities, coordinating vendor services, providing daily feedback to education department leadership, curricula development, coordinating payment processing and registration with the Guest Services Team, and supporting additional earned revenue opportunities. The Camp Manager is also charged with supervising the seasonal Youth Ocean Leader assistant counselor program. Hours: 40 hours/week Tuesday – Saturday, May 5 – May 30, 2026, between the hours of 8 AM - 5 PM Monday – Friday, June 1 - August 10, 2026, between the hours of 8 AM - 5 PM

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline or 5+ years of relevant experience in leading outdoor environmental education, classroom management, summer camp programs, etc.
  • Maintain current Adult and Child CPR/AED and certifications as well as be a strong swimmer and lifeguard certified (certifications provided during training, if needed)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and must pass an annual Level 2 background screening through DCF Clearinghouse.
  • Must possess previous work with summer camps or interaction with large groups of children
  • Must also have experience in some fields of science such as biology, marine science, ecology as well as a general knowledge of Florida ecosystems
  • Outgoing and energetic personality and experience serving in youth camp leadership.
  • Must be available to work both independently and with the Education Department for training, program development, curriculum design, and camp coordination from Tuesday – Saturday between the hours of 8am-5pm from May 5 - May 16, 2026.
  • Must be able to attend mandatory training sessions Tuesday – Saturday between the hours of 8am- 5pm from May 19 – May 23 & May 26 – May 30, 2026.
  • Must be available to work for duration of camp, which runs from Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am- 5pm from June 1 – August 7 (10 weeks total).
  • After camp cleanup, inventory, reviews, and evaluations on Monday, August 10 between the hours of 9am-5pm.

Responsibilities

  • Training of seasonal camp staff to include four (4) Camp Counselors and all Youth Ocean Leaders (High School leadership program)
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of Camp Counselors, as well as Youth Ocean Leaders (YOLs); act as a leader and mentor for seasonal camp staff
  • Keep track of supplies for camp and replenish inventory as necessary
  • Ensure all protocols found in the camp standard operating procedures are implemented daily and LMC quality standards achieved
  • Lead curricula design and development
  • Work with the Director of Education to execute our overall vision for quality summer camp
  • Coordinating logistics for all programs and activities; maintaining camp schedule and relationships with field trip partners
  • Upholding LMC educational standards in all aspects of camp
  • Foster long-term relationships with campers and families
  • Ensure safe and fun camp experience for all staff and participants
  • Will prioritize safety, to ensure DCF regulation compliance
  • Oversee day-to-day operations
  • Other duties as assigned
