About The Position

The primary objective of the Summer Camp Counselor is to provide a safe, engaging, and fun environment for youth participants ages 4-10. Counselors will lead and supervise daily camp activities, actively engage with campers, and ensure smooth transitions between scheduled programs throughout the camp day. This position plays a key role in creating a positive camp experience while promoting teamwork, creativity, and respectful behavior.

Requirements

CPR (training provided)
Prior childcare, camp, or youth program experience is required
Ability to work effectively with children ages 4 - 10 in a group setting
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to manage groups, maintain structure, and encourage positive behavior
Dependable, responsible, and able to follow a structured daily schedule
Energetic, creative, and enthusiastic about working with children
Ability to stand, walk, and participate in physical activities for extended periods
This position involves both indoor and outdoor activities and requires constant interaction with children throughout the camp day

Responsibilities

Supervise and actively engage groups of children in daily camp activities
Lead structured games, crafts, sports, and enrichment activities according to the camp itinerary
Rotate assigned groups throughout the facility to various activity stations in a timely and organized manner
Ride and minor bus riders daily, ensuring camper safety during transportation
Maintain constant awareness of camper location and well-being
Enforce camp rules and behavior expectations fairly and in a positive manner
Follow all safety procedures and emergency protocols
Creatively plan and implement additional activities when needed to support camper engagement
Communicate effectively with supervisors, fellow counselors, and parents
Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, patience, and enthusiasm
