This role involves working directly with assigned campers to foster their safety, independence, exploration, and integration into the camp community. The goal is to build camper self-esteem through positive interactions and establishing trust. Counselors will demonstrate positive behavioral management techniques, communicate effectively with individuals in a person-centered and age-appropriate manner, and report any health, behavioral, or programmatic issues to the Head Counselor and other staff. Active participation in the camp program, supporting campers at their required level, and assisting Activity Leaders are key. Counselors will live cooperatively within the camp community, assist with evening cabin or program responsibilities, and complete all assigned documentation accurately and on time. They will also develop free time activities that encourage teamwork, positive interaction, and personal growth, while adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
