About The Position

Delta Airport Consultants, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative self-starters for a dynamic eight-week Summer Aviation Experience program in 2027. This internship offers an introduction to the aviation industry and a comprehensive overview of airport projects from inception to completion. Interns will gain exposure to airport planning, civil engineering, design, CAD, construction administration, project management, and field representative duties. The program includes classroom training, hands-on learning, guest speakers, team-building events, and site visits to airports and projects. The program runs from late May through early August 2027, with a break during the week of July 4th. Lodging is provided.

Requirements

  • Student currently studying Civil Engineering in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program.
  • May be required to obtain a security badge and complete specific airfield safety and driver training prior to visiting client project sites.
  • Passion for airports and aviation.
  • Desire to travel, design and construct airports, learn and try new things.
  • Eager to learn and try new things.
  • Interest in civil site design and construction / land development.
  • Interest in exposure to all facets of consulting engineering.
  • A curious knowledge seeker who wants to continually learn and stay abreast of industry advancements.

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience.
  • Aviation exposure/experience.
  • Internship/co-op experience.

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to the world of aviation through visits to various airports and meetings with industry professionals.
  • Participate in aviation-related activities, including an introduction to ground school and an opportunity for a flight in a Delta plane.
  • Review plans, create exhibits, prepare construction estimates, and assist with bidding processes.
  • Visit active construction sites and participate in construction administration.
  • Assist with project closeout procedures.
  • Develop consulting skills by bridging complex engineering concepts with real-world business solutions through relationship development and communication.
  • Cultivate professional relationships and explore potential career paths within the aviation industry.
  • Participate in a mentorship program.
