Summer Associate Internship (AI Engineer)
About The Position
The Cognitive and Generative-AI Engineering team, part of the Enterprise Data and Information Management (EDIM) department, is responsible for developing and implementing AI-driven solutions that enhance and scale AI adoption across Navy Federal Credit Union. The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2027 and ending in August 2027. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university
- Strong foundation in Computer Science or Data Science
- Experience with programming languages such as Python
- Understanding of Generative-AI concepts and Large Language Models (LLMs), including their applications and limitations
- Familiarity with Prompt Engineering, AI search techniques, vector databases, LangGraph and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks
- Knowledge of Data Engineering, APIs, and cloud development
- Adaptability to new technologies
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Effective communication skills and a commitment to self-development
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
Responsibilities
- Perform research and analysis; may include quantitative and/or qualitative analysis
- Assist with AI Engineering tasks and projects.
- Provide support to assigned department; may work on small projects or portions of larger projects
- Support business strategy and initiatives within the business unit and/or across the organization
- Assist and collaborate with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks/assignments
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions, placing member service as priority
- Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational support
- Provide support in functional areas of the credit union
- Process and update data in automated systems; may generate and analyze reports
- Perform other duties as assigned
