About The Position

Brown Advisory is seeking motivated, team-oriented students to join us for a 9-week, on-site internship designed to immerse you in every facet of investment management. While you will have the opportunity to select an area of specialty (e.g. Portfolio Management or Investment Research), you’ll contribute to projects that span the entire firm. Our immersive internship is designed to build your analytical, strategic, and communication skills through real-world projects that span across a variety of departments and impact firm-wide decision-making. By collaborating with colleagues across the firm, you’ll learn how to harness data to inform investment decisions, optimize processes, and deliver exceptional client outcomes. Your contributions will span the breadth of our organization, offering a holistic view of how asset management firms function, innovate, and deliver long-term value to clients.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
  • Balanced resume showcasing leadership roles, extracurricular involvement, or other notable achievements.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and proactively identify opportunities and own projects from ideation through execution.
  • Analytical and adaptive thinker with a genuine passion for finance, investing, and macro-level economics.
  • Demonstrate initiative, leadership, and adaptability.
  • Experience with MS Excel.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, coupled with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Willing to work in a collaborative environment and be capable of thriving in a team environment that relies on your ability to multitask and adapt swiftly to changing priorities.
  • Willing to work on-site, in one of our office locations (Baltimore, Boston, New York or Washington, D.C.), five days a week.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in relationship management and a desire to understand client investment objectives (Portfolio Management specialty).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills (Investment Research specialty).
  • A strong intellectual curiosity and passion for financial and private markets (Investment Research specialty).
  • Knowledge of basic accounting fundamentals & Excel functions (Investment Research specialty).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing mock client materials, analyzing performance data, and participating in meetings that highlight the importance of communication, trust, and long-term planning (Portfolio Management specialty).
  • Contribute to financial modeling, company analysis, or thematic research that informs investment decisions across portfolios (Investment Research specialty).
  • Contribute to projects that span the entire firm.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to learn how to harness data to inform investment decisions, optimize processes, and deliver exceptional client outcomes.
  • Contribute to firm-wide decision-making.
