About The Position

BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area is seeking individuals to join their team to support children and youth in the community. The organization focuses on creating safe environments and providing mentoring relationships. They value diversity and inclusion, actively encouraging applications from individuals experiencing barriers to equity. This specific role is a temporary 8-week summer position.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma.
  • 2 years’ previous experience in an administrative role.
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check completed within the last 6 months.
  • Must meet all Canada Summer Job funding requirements to be eligible for these positions.
  • Confirmed availability from June 29- August 21, 2026, Monday to Fridays from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in progress in office administration or human services is an asset.
  • Previous experience with volunteers, children and families is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
  • Manage time effectively/efficiently.
  • Works co-operatively and productively with others to achieve results.
  • Personal attributes include effective verbal communication and active listening skills, time management, and respect for cultural diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and direct visitors to the office in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Maintain filing systems, databases, and electronic data management.
  • Locate filed materials upon request ensuring the materials are given only to authorized users.
  • Use standardized file methods and procedures as indicated.
  • Organize, maintain, archive and purge records and files according to standards.
  • Eliminate unnecessary or outdated materials, destroying them or transferring them to inactive storage according to file maintenance/legal guidelines.
  • Organize, plan, schedule and track bus bookings and/or other forms of transportation for programs.
  • Ensure all summer programs are provided with the resources needed to support day-to-day programming including ordering, sorting and delivering supplies and food.
  • Update, maintain and track client file records, ensuring that active file records are separated from closed or inactive records.
