About The Position

PSEG is looking for a Summer 2026 Staff Intern for the Technical Training Team. This job involves working as a Communications Strategy Intern focused on designing and implementing a communications strategy to highlight the training programs and modernization efforts of the Edison and Silver Lake Training Centers. This position will be Onsite.

Requirements

  • The successful incumbent(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field and graduating between December 2026 and May 2029.
  • Students graduating in May/June 2026 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the fall term of 2026.
  • PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
  • Incumbents must have completed sophomore level course work for consideration.
  • Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.

  • Strategic Writing: Ability to translate complex utility operations and technical jargon into engaging, clear narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Multimedia Production: Proficiency in basic graphic design (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and experience with social media content creation or short-form video.
  • Active Listening & Interviewing: Strong interpersonal skills to extract compelling stories from technical staff who may not naturally highlight their own accomplishments.
  • Digital Platform Management: Comfort with content management systems (CMS), email marketing tools, and professional networking platforms like LinkedIn.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, from research and interviewing to final content distribution

Responsibilities

  • Achievements Audit and Content Repository: Conduct interviews with facility trainers and department leads to identify key 2025–2026 milestones, such as safety certifications reached, new training technologies implemented (e.g., VR simulations), or successful infrastructure projects.
  • Strategic Communication Plan: Develop a comprehensive 12-month strategy that outlines how to highlight these achievements across various channels (internal newsletters, LinkedIn, and local community outreach) to build department pride and external brand awareness.
  • Multimedia Success Stories: Create a series of "Impact Profiles" using graphic design tools or video to showcase specific employee or trainee successes. These assets should be ready for use in recruitment and annual reports.
  • Internal Engagement Campaign: Draft and manage an internal email series or "Training Center Highlights" bulletin board to ensure staff are recognized for their recent contributions.
