About The Position
SANDRA AND LEON LEVINE JCC The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a non-profit, social service agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. The Center provides and initiates diversified social, educational, recreational and cultural programs within a Jewish setting. The JCC is a partner in serving the community, is affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte. POSITION PURPOSE: The Sports Camp Counselor is responsible for providing for the social, emotional and educational needs of each camper and the group as a whole during the camp season.
Requirements
- Completed one year of College or College Degree (preferred).
- Sports and/or leadership experience.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with children.
- Good character and integrity.
- Positive physical and mental health.
- The desire to work with children in a sports camp setting.
Responsibilities
- Participate in staff training prior to the beginning of the camp program.
- Supervision of campers at all times.
- Supervise health, safety and activities of campers.
- Follow weekly schedule of events and special activities.
- Teach/assist in all areas.
- Take initiative to analyze and solve problems.
- Supervise and participate with campers in all daily activities.
- Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Interact with parents in a professional and polite manner.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Athletics.
- Assist in the set-up and clean-up of all activities and lunch area.
