About The Position

As we help clear the path to a greener future, we need to ensure our people continue to power our progress. The world of energy is changing faster than ever! Our Gridtern Program provides current college students the ability to gain practical experience within the energy industry. Your summer will begin on Monday, June 15, 2026, and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking opportunities, community involvement, and most importantly, have fun! What You’ll Do Our New York Environmental Sustainability team is dedicated to advancing the Responsible Business Charter commitments related to environmental stewardship across the New York Gas and Electric businesses. This team’s focus includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preserving the natural environment on land we manage, and promoting climate adaptation and resource resiliency. They work closely with the New York operations team to ensure compliance with the NYS Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) while also helping to achieve its broader targets and ambitions. Our efforts support sustainability throughout National Grid by setting strategic direction, influencing external policies, and collaborating with peers across the US to drive decarbonization and the clean energy transition. You will help facilitate improvements in GHG reporting for various metrics, support voluntary disclosure processes, and contribute to US Nature Strategy and supply chain sustainability activities.
