About The Position

The Virginia Department of Veteran Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Suicide Prevention Coordinator to support the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of suicide prevention initiatives across Virginia. The initiatives are designed to reduce suicide deaths and attempts and strengthen behavioral health and wellness. The position is an integral member of the SOS team and operates in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment. It reports directly to the Suicide Prevention and Opioid Addiction Services (SOS) Director. The role requires effective problem solving, attention to detail, deadline management, and prioritization of competing demands. The coordinator must communicate and collaborate effectively with partners, grantees, and grant agencies. Travel of up to 60% of the time, including frequent overnight and multi-day stays, is required to support business operations and client needs.
