GFY is seeking a SUE Technician to join our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team. This is an entry-level position where you will assist the Lead Locator (crew chief) with all aspects of electronically and physically locating underground utilities.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report
Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to think critically
Ability to travel out of town as needed
Ability to work outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions, and overnight as needed
Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis

Responsibilities

Uses ground-penetrating radar (GPR), handheld electromagnetic (EM) locators, and other specialized devices, including vacuum-excavation equipment, to locate underground utilities (communications, electric, water, sewer, gas, etc.)
Drives, operates, and maintains vacuum-excavation vehicles
Regularly uses a variety of hand and power tools, including but not limited to wrenches, drivers, drills, pneumatic hammers, etc.
Assists with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) daily setups
Stocks vacuum excavation trucks and support vehicles with appropriate equipment, supplies, tools, paint, flags, signs, asphalt, concrete, etc. daily
Participates in maintaining a safe work environment for all utility crew members
