Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of utility locating or designating using many types of pipe and cable locating devices
  • Understanding basic traffic control and the hazards associated with working in and around traffic and follow safety precautions
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Possess the ability to be trained and mentored
  • Have a positive can-do attitude
  • Must possess leadership and mentoring skills
  • Have a basic knowledge of various underground utilities and able to identify surface features associated with various utilities
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience
  • A valid current driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical card for Commercial Motor Vehicle operation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) experience
  • Surveying experience
  • CADD experience
  • Vacuum excavation truck experience
  • Ability to perform some equipment maintenance tasks
  • Current Commercial Driver’s License
  • NULCA or other certification

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a vacuum excavation truck and related equipment safely and efficiently
  • Designate/locate a variety of underground utilities
  • Create legible field sketches
  • Perform simple mathematics
  • Perform field measurements
  • Document daily activities
  • Perform records research
  • Perform other duties as assigned
