About The Position

Provides services to clients with substance use disorders and/or with co-occurring diagnoses. This position’s focus is on the symptoms of the Substance Use Disorder as well as related service and education as licensure allows.

Requirements

  • Substance Use Disorder Counseling Group & Individual, Case Consultation and/or Coordination, Psychoeducation, Relapse Prevention; Communication, Active Listening, Problem Solving, Stress Management, Interpersonal and Teamwork skills, Project Management, Organization skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work activities.
  • Some college, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Families Studies, or related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching or facilitating groups preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to support principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and/or other 12 Step or Recovery Programs.
  • Must possess the ability to exercise discretion on sensitive and confidential matters.
  • At minimum, State of Ohio CDCA preferred. Ability to apply for and obtain State of Ohio LCDC II, LCDC III, or LICDC would be desirable.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word and Excel, and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide treatment for the clients.
  • Provides face-to-face services and may provide telehealth services as needed and identified by supervisor.
  • Collaborates with supervisor(s) and coworkers to develop curriculum and education for clients, including but is not limited to content and visual aids.
  • Facilitates learning and positive change for clients with this curriculum/education.
  • Structures SUD group similar to classroom setting i.e., educational, interactive, and prompting client questions and discussion related to substance use and recovery.
  • May conduct additional presentations, groups, and/or trainings as necessary with supervisor(s) approval.
  • May provide individual SUD counseling if needed and approved by supervisor(s).
  • Assists, develops, and/or facilitates with Family Education as needed.
  • Assist with group coverage as needed in other SUD therapy groups such as other groups in this department or those identified as residential group therapy as needed.
  • Participates in scheduled supervision regularly.
  • Maintains client records in compliance with agency, CARF, and OHMAS standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and promotes continuous improvement.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
  • Attends staff meetings and/or review monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Attends workshops, seminars, and/or agency trainings to stay current on trends in chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, behavioral health counseling, and federal, state, and local regulations required to maintain licensure.
  • Completes internet-based trainings as instructed by administration.
  • Performs other duties that may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor.
