About The Position

Centennial Peaks Hospital is seeking a Substance Use Counselor/Addictions Counselor to provide counseling services to their inpatient and/or outpatient population on a PRN (as needed) basis. The hospital has been providing psychiatric services to the Denver-metro area for over 30 years and offers individualized programming for adolescents and adults, including psychiatric services, chemical dependency treatment, Electroconvulsive Therapy, Intensive Outpatient, and Partial Hospitalization Programs. This role requires a passion and dedication to meet the behavioral health needs of the community, specifically adult patients struggling with chemical dependence. The Substance Use Disorder Counselor will provide direct patient care, work with the patient and treatment team to develop therapeutic plans, conduct group therapy, develop relapse prevention plans, complete Addiction Severity Index Assessments (ASI’s), make discharge recommendations, and utilize evidence-based skills like motivational interviewing to engage patients in recovery. Documentation and communication with the treatment team are also key components of this role.

Requirements

LAC Required.
Must have a Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
One-year experience working with psychiatric mental health population, and/or chemically dependent population preferred.
Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training preferred.

Responsibilities

Providing direct patient care for adult patients struggling with substance abuse.
Working closely with the patient and treatment team to develop a therapeutic plan.
Providing direct clinical care through group therapy.
Developing relapse prevention plans.
Completing Addiction Severity Index Assessments (ASI’s) for all dual diagnosis and detox patients.
Making discharge recommendations.
Utilizing motivational interviewing and other evidence-based skills to engage patients in the recovery process.
Completing group documentation.
Communicating with other members of the treatment team via treatment planning, team meetings, or other means to coordinate care for patients.
