About The Position

Hermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company focused on rapid iterative prototyping to build the fastest aircraft in the world. The Test team is responsible for developing infrastructure to perform tests on fuel & hydraulic system components. This involves working with hardware owners to define testing requirements, design and implement test fixtures, and assist in data collection to inform and verify design decisions. This internship is for the Fall 2026 session, lasting approximately 16 weeks (August - December).

Requirements

  • Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).
  • Strong interest in testing.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus's mission.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.

Responsibilities

  • Design test fixtures and interfaces.
  • Perform analysis to determine target test points, instrumentation, and ensure sufficient test safety margins.
  • Organize and run test design reviews with stakeholders in cross-functional teams.
  • Create manufacturing plans for test components/fixtures and work directly with manufacturing/build teams to monitor build progress and assist in resolving issues.
  • Design and release flight-like hardware as necessary for test (including CAD and drawing creation).
