About The Position

Substitute Teachers - Daily & On Call for the 2026-2027 School Year. This position is directly responsible to the District Principal and Supervisors in areas of instruction and curriculum. The role involves instructional and general classroom duties in-person in the Marlborough Public Schools.

Requirements

Two (2) years of college and/or 2 years of relevant experience working with school-aged children will be considered.
Some knowledge of curriculum in area of interest: Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary Education.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.

Nice To Haves

2 years of college or an Associate’s Degree preferred.
Bachelor's Degree a plus.
Licensed by the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Massachusetts preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Follow a lesson plan and manage a class to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Team teaching, interdisciplinary approach.
Comply with all building procedures and school and district policies.
Vary instruction to meet student learning needs when necessary.
Provide guidance, communicate expectations, and show an active interest in student progress.
Work cooperatively with other staff.
Respect personal privacy and maintain confidentiality with privileged information.
Intervene and/or report to an administrator when necessary any concerning student behavior (e.g., profanity, teasing, bullying, distress, etc.).
Willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities a plus.
Perform other specific job-related duties as directed.
