About The Position

Substitute Teachers are responsible for instructional and general classroom duties in-person in the Marlborough Public Schools. This role requires the ability to follow a lesson plan and manage a class to maintain a safe and positive learning environment. The position involves team teaching and an interdisciplinary approach, and requires compliance with all building procedures and school and district policies. Substitute teachers must vary instruction to meet student learning needs, provide guidance, communicate expectations, and show an active interest in student progress. They will work cooperatively with other staff, respect personal privacy, and maintain confidentiality. Intervention and/or reporting of concerning student behavior to an administrator is also a key responsibility. A willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities is a plus.

Requirements

  • 2 years of college or an Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of college and/or 2 years of relevant experience working with school-aged children will be considered.
  • Some knowledge of curriculum in area of interest: Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary Education.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Licensed by the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Massachusetts preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities a plus.
