About The Position

Provide instruction and manage a classroom in the regular teacher's absence, following provided lesson plans, managing student behavior, taking attendance, and ensuring a safe learning environment. The position involves instructing students in large, small, and one-on-one settings; creating a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity; supervising student behavior and well-being in the classroom and other educational settings; and administering discipline when appropriate. The substitute collaborates with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes, and performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
• No professional work experience required.
• Colorado Department of Education (CDE) substitute authorization or teaching license.
• Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, and email.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Basic classroom management and planning skills.
• Basic organizational skills.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills.
• Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement.
• Ability and desire to work as a team member.
• Ability to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous successful teaching experience.
• Experience working in the public sector.
• Experience advising school clubs or co-curricular activities.
