About The Position
The Substitute Teacher assumes the full role and responsibilities of the Teacher in their absence and supports regular classroom staff in establishing, maintaining, and managing classroom activities. The role serves the Head Start Program, families, and children.
Requirements
- High school diploma and/or GED.
- At least one year of experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare setting.
- Current driver's license and access to an automobile with current insurance.
- Current CDA or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education is required.
Nice To Haves
- Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Implement daily lesson plans and schedules.
- Organize and maintain classroom learning centers.
- Maintain order using positive approaches to behavior management.
- Recruit volunteers and solicit in-kind contributions.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Maintain the cleanliness of classrooms and adjoining restrooms.
- Serve as an advocate for the Head Start Program, families, and children.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
