About The Position

Tallahassee State College is seeking a part-time OPS Substitute Teacher for the Tallahassee Collegiate Academy (TCA). This role involves facilitating lesson plans during a teacher's absence to ensure students' academic progress. The substitute teacher will maintain high-quality instruction, establish an orderly classroom environment, and adhere to all school policies and procedures. Candidates must have completed 60 semester hours of coursework from an accredited post-secondary institute and successfully complete a Level II background screening. Preference will be given to those with a valid teaching certificate or teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain maximum availability to accept assignments
Execute lesson plan consistent with teacher guidelines and school curriculum
Establish an orderly classroom environment and provide a positive learning experience
Become familiar with school emergency protocols, such as fire drill and lockdown
Adhere to all school policies and procedures
Record attendance according to school procedure
Assign classwork according to lesson plan
Supplement lesson plan with other classroom activities
Maintain discipline in the classroom and foster a safe, productive learning environment in accordance with school policies
Compile report for teacher that includes student attendance, lesson-plan progress, disciplinary actions, and positive developments. Reports issues of concern to administration
Perform other duties, as needed
