About The Position

Kokua Education is seeking passionate individuals to become substitute teachers in Spring and the surrounding Houston area for the 2026-27 school year. This part-time role allows you to set your own schedule, earn up to $144 per day, and make a significant impact on students' lives. Kokua, meaning 'to come together to fulfill a need,' focuses on placing positive role models in classrooms who inspire a love for learning. You will have the opportunity to work in K-12 schools across the Houston area, with support available daily from 6 am to 8 pm. This position also offers a path to full-time employment in permanent roles at high-performing schools.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience working with children in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
Completion of 48+ college credit hours.
Confidence in managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed (lunch/recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, testing proctoring).
Ability to pass state & federal background checks (costs reimbursed after 10 assignments).
Belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.
