About The Position

The primary role of a Substitute Teacher is to assume classroom and other assigned duties in the absence of the regular teacher. This position requires maintaining confidentiality, following lesson plans, taking attendance, and ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment. The substitute teacher will also perform other duties as instructed by an administrator during non-teaching time and leave notes for the returning teacher.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of college (60 semester hours) or Associate’s Degree.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Friendly and able to interact professionally and positively with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Basic computer skills including email, internet use, keyboarding, Excel, Word.
  • Ability to follow multi-step directions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Previous school/classroom experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assume classroom and other assigned duties in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information.
  • Sign in and out daily in the main office.
  • Use the timesheet within Frontline for monthly payment.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment and an orderly classroom.
  • Follow the provided lesson plans.
  • Take accurate student attendance.
  • Perform other duties during non-teaching time as instructed by an administrator or administrative assistant other than during the scheduled lunch period.
  • Leave a note with any necessary information for the teacher when he/she returns to the classroom.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by supervisor/administrator.
